Home Affairs Adviser advised Awami League to organize the party with new faces
Home Affairs Adviser Brigadier General (Retd.) M Sakhwat Hossain advised Awami League leaders and activists to organize the party with new faces. He said that no one has banned Awami League as a political party.
The Home Adviser spoke to reporters after a meeting with minority community leaders at the secretariat on Monday (August 12) afternoon. Pointing to Sheikh Hasina, the Home Affairs Adviser said, You said I would come, you come Why don't you come? This is your country.
"After serving as prime minister for so many years, you left voluntarily, no one asked you to go. You went voluntarily, stay well, came again; we all respect you, don't we? I do not disrespect. But there is no point in making this mess. There is no point in messing this up. Instead, people will get angrier."
The Home Affairs Adviser said, Awami League is a big political party, there are many good leaders in the party.... This party was once a pro-secular party of Bengalis, of the middle class. A group that collapses like this, people are running away, I don't know what. I also assure them, I promise you to organize your party, no one has banned your party.
M Sakhawat Hussain said; please don't push the country into anarchy, including collapsing the party. You have a party. We will help you from the Ministry of Home Affairs. You organize a party with new faces, with new promises and hopefully with the through Political Party Act.
“To the political parties, fix them (violence against minorities) in your areas. Seat wise if we take the calculation... You know very well that I am not a new guy. You have been with me for the past five years.”
He felt that the leaders of the minority communities were reassured by the words of the Home Adviser. The Advisor of the Ministry of Home Affairs said that a three-day public holiday will be recommended for Durga Puja.
