The death toll in the flood rises to 52

Due to the ongoing floods in the country, the death toll has increased to 52 in 9 districts. On the other hand, more than 54 lakh 80 thousand people have been affected by the flood.

Adviser to the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief Farooq- e- Azam gave this information in a press conference on the ongoing flood situation at the Secretariat on Thursday (August 29).

The Relief adviser said that till now the number of flood affected districts is 11. The total number of affected people in 11 districts is 54 lakh 80 thousand. There are 10 lakh 72 thousand 579 marooned families.

According to the updated information of the Ministry of Floods, 39 men, 6 women and 7 children are among the 52 people who died in the nine districts due to floods.

Among the dead are 17 in Feni, 14 in Cumilla, 8 in Noakhali, 6 in Chattogram, 3 in Cox's Bazar, one in Khagrachari, one in Brahmanbaria, one in Lakhsmipur and one in Moulavibazar.

A total of 3,403 shelters have been opened to provide shelter to people stranded and affected by the recent floods in the country. A total of five lakh two thousand 501 people and 36 thousand 448 cattle heads have been sheltered in the shelter centers.

A total of 595 medical teams are operational to provide medical care to the victims of 11 districts. Besides, the Ministry of Relief said that all the districts of the country have sufficient stock of relief materials.
