No scope for unprofessional conduct in performing duty: DMP Commissioner

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md. Mainul Hasan has ordered policemen to work with professionalism and not to do any unprofessional behavior that tarnishes the image of the police in the country and abroad.

He said this as the chief guest's speech at a view exchange meeting with the policemen working in the Diplomatic Security Division on Friday (September 13) morning.

Mohammad Noore Alam, Deputy Police Commissioner of the Diplomatic Security Division presided over the meeting.

At the beginning of the speech, the DMP Commissioner expressed deep condolences to the souls of all those who sacrificed their lives in the uprising of students and their families. At the same time, he remembered the injured policemen who sacrificed their lives to protect law and order. The DMP Commissioner said that the policemen who were injured in this mass upsurge will be given proper medical treatment.

DMP Commissioner said, Diplomatic Security Division is a very important unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police. It is your responsibility and duty to maintain law and order and provide security to diplomats in all areas where foreign embassies and diplomats reside. You must act with the utmost professionalism in providing security and service to diplomats. No such unprofessional behavior can be done which tarnishes the image of the police in the country and abroad.

The commissioner said that in the prevailing situation, every member of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police is trying to fulfill the duties assigned to them with professionalism by increasing morale.

Calling upon the policemen, the DMP Commissioner said that the police is a disciplined force governed by laws and rules. While on duty, they should show their superiority in dress, presentation, service and firmness. There is absolutely no scope for any unprofessional behavior and laxity in the performance of duties. Be polite in dealing with people.

He also said that members of all levels of Dhaka Metropolitan Police should work with a sense of responsibility from their respective places. The safety of people's life and property should be ensured by maintaining the law and order situation. People should have full confidence in the police by fulfilling their duties, providing the desired service in times of trouble, so that they feel that the police are their friends.

During the exchange of views, the Deputy Police Commissioner of the Diplomatic Security Division presented some specific problems and limitations to the DMP Commissioner. The Commissioner listens to it attentively and assures to solve every problem. Besides, he directed the concerned officers to ensure all the welfare of the force by keeping the barracks clean, improving the quality of force food and organizing regular sports.
