Even though the master is gone, the slaves are hiding within us
Chattogram: Urging everyone to be vigilant Hasnat Abdullah, coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, said, "The Lord is gone but the slaves of the Lord are hiding within us." They will come among us in various forms and want to break the unity. You must always be alert.
He said these things in a speech given at a view exchange meeting with the students and citizens at Laldighi Maidan in the city on Sunday (September 8) at 4:30 pm.
Hasnat Abdullah said, we have seen that when the movement was stopped in Dhaka, you reignited the movement from Chattogram. We have seen how the Wasims turned around, how the Shantas gave blood. We have come to Chattogram. We want to convey the message to you that as we came together during the crisis, now is the time to rebuild the country. We have to stay together the same way.
He said, the people of Bir Chattala are always religious. But we have seen that they have always been identified as religious fundamentalists by the state. Those with beards and caps have always been marginalized. We want to say that the day the bearded and cap people came down to Uttara and built the fort in Jatrabari, their coordinator was not identified. In the same way, we don't need to be coordinators. Everyone here is a coordinator, everyone is a co-coordinator.
The coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement said that after the movement, there were no such parties on the streets. But if you go out on the street now, you will see the walls covered with posters. The poster has been printed in the same way as it was during the time of Awami fascists. Only the pictures have changed. I want to tell you that by capitalizing on the student movement, you should not try to politicize that movement. The student movement was against fascists, against corruption, against inequality, against syndicates, against tender bosses. I would like to warn you about those who are tender manipulators and corrupt. You were under the umbrella of a group for 16 years. Now if they come under the umbrella of another party and try to do corruption, the students will see.
He said to the administration officials, you should cooperate with the Interim government. If you think you will sit angry, do not do office-court work; then you are thinking wrong. In this movement there were blacksmiths, coolies and cobblers. Similarly, there were educated classes in this movement. So your replacement will be done.
Addressing the police force, Hasnat Abdullah said, students and police are brothers. There is no difference between us. Get back to work. We know those among you who were companions of murderers. All police but not Benazir. Don't lose all police DBs. My father, my brother; they are also police. So we will cooperate with the police. We will consider those who are currently in the field in the work of state reconstruction as collaborators rather than as opponents, and we will advance the work of state reconstruction. Message to the police - see Benazir could not stay in the country. DB Harun is not good. So if you are power-oriented instead of people-oriented, your situation will be like Benazir-Harun.
This coordinator said, we want to make it clear that the students have nothing to gain, we are ready to give up. Our students came to the streets and let the police get their chests. I want to say to the extortionist-tender manipulators we are not afraid of bullets and bombs. Be careful. If you think to start corruption again by capitalizing on the second freedom, the student-citizens will pull out your poisonous teeth.
Regarding the attempt to stop the communal riots in Chattogram, he said that the previous fascist government divided us. By keeping the politics of division in place, they established fascism. They have always divided who has a beard and who has no beard. Who are madrasa students and who are not? But we have created an example in this post-fascism Bangladesh. When the temple was attacked, the temple was defended by our bearded and cap brothers. The first identity of all of us is that we are Bangladeshis. After that, he raised his hands to the students and promised to protect communal harmony.
Also present on the stage were the central coordinator of anti-discrimination student movement Russell Ahmed, co-coordinator Khan Talat Mahmud Rafi, Mohammad Ali, Fazlul Haque Sravan, Riazur Rahmjan and Pushpita Nath and others. Also Laldighi ground was full of students from various schools, colleges and universities. People from various professions also joined.
Earlier, students started gathering at Laldighi Maidan from noon on Sunday as previously announced. The discussion session started around 4:30 in the afternoon. Khan Talat Mahmud Rafi and Mohammad Russell, coordinators of Chattogram anti-discrimination student movement also spoke.
