Allegation of genocide in the tribunal in the name of 14 parties including Awami League
Dhaka: Complaints have been filed with the International Crimes Tribunal in the name of Awami League and 14 party alliance as direct order givers of genocide in the anti-discrimination student movement.
On Wednesday (October 2), Chairman of the Nationalist Democratic Movement Bobby Hajjaz submitted this complaint to Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam.
He alleged that the political parties in the 14-party alliance, including the Awami League, gave direct orders to carry out the massacre in the movement for quota reform and the fall of the government.
According to the complaint, the Awami League and 14 affiliated political parties as direct order givers - Communist Party, Democratic Labor Party, JSD (Inu), Bangladesh Workers Party (Menon), Bangladesh Samajtantrik Dal, Tarikat Federation, Democratic Party, National Awami Party (NAP) ), GanaAzadi League, Communist Kendra, BSD and Jatiya Party-JP should investigate the allegations of genocide and take necessary steps to prosecute them at the International Criminal Tribunal.
The Awami League government fell on August 5 in the face of the student movement. The party was in power for almost 16 years under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina. The movement that began demanding quota reform ended with the fall of the government. Nobel laureate Dr. Muhammad Yunus as head the interim government was formed on August 8. After that there were attacks one after another against Sheikh Hasina and Awami League leaders and activists.
Prosecutor Gazi MH Tamim told reporters that 31 separate complaints have been filed against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for committing genocide across the country from July 5 to August 5. Of these, 13 complaints were submitted to the Office of the Chief Prosecutor. The rest have been submitted to the investigative body of the tribunal.
Awami League and its various affiliates have been named as political parties in some of these complaints. However, the prosecutor said that this is the first complaint against the 14 parties. #
