The court has granted the bail application of former Environment, Forest and Climate Change Affairs Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury in the four murder case of Khilgaon police station.

On Tuesday (October 8), Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mehdi Hasan granted his bail after the hearing.

Earlier, on Monday (October 7), the court granted a 5-day remand to former Forest and Environment Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury in the murder case of BNP activist Maqbul.

After being remanded, Saber Hossain became physically ill. He is already physically ill and suffering from heart disease wearing three rings on his heart.

The court remanded Saber Hossain Chowdhury for 5 days for questioning in the BNP activist Maqbul murder case filed at Paltan Model Police Station.

Sub-Inspector Nazmul Hasan of Paltan Model Police Station, investigating officer of the case, presented the accused in the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court.

At that time, when he applied for a 10-day remand of the accused, after the hearing, Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Zakir Hossain's court granted 5 days remand.

It is known from the affidavit of the case that on December 10, 2022, when the leaders and activists gathered in Paltan area of the capital around the program of one-sided demand for the fall of the government called by BNP, the defendants in the case conspired to disrupt the rally. At that time, Awami League leaders entered the central office of BNP with the connivance of some police officers and vandalized and looted. Indiscriminate lathi-charge, cocktail attacks, teargas firing, sound-grenade blasts and firing were used to quell the agitation. Hundreds of BNP leaders were injured and one BNP worker named Maqbul Hossain was shot and died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical.

The police said that in order to reveal the main mystery of the incident, to identify the location of the accused and to properly investigate the case, extensive interrogation of the accused is required.

Dhaka Metropolitan Detective (DB) Police arrested Saber Hossain Chowdhury from Gulshan area of the capital on Sunday (October 6) evening. He was a Member of Parliament for Dhaka-9 Constituency in the last parliament.
