Formation of advisory council for investigation of corruption and victims of agitation

An advisory council committee has been formed to investigate allegations of corruption related to the appointment of Deputy Commissioners and to ensure medical care for those injured in the anti-discrimination student movement.

This information was informed through two separate circulars signed by the Secretary of the Cabinet Division Md. Mahbub Hossain on Wednesday (October 9).

Adviser on Law, Justice and Parliament Asif Nazrul, Home Affairs Adviser Lt. Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.) and Information Advisor Nahid Islam will investigate the corruption allegations.

On the other hand, an advisory council has been formed to ensure the treatment of those injured in the movement, consisting of Health Adviser Noorjahan Begum, information adviser Nahid Islam and youth and sports adviser Asif Mahmud.

It is mentioned in the circular regarding the investigation of the complaint of corruption related to the appointment of the Deputy Commissioner, in view of the news published on 3 October 2024 in various daily newspapers and social media including Daily Kalbela, the report should be submitted within 10 working days after investigation.

Besides, both the committees will be able to co-opt members if necessary and secretarial support will be provided to the Committees of the District and Field Administration Divisions of the Cabinet Division.
