Former Serbian President Boris Tadic has expressed his interest in helping Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the chief adviser to the interim government.

On Monday (November 18), he expressed this interest when he paid a courtesy call on Dr. Yunus at the office of the chief adviser.

During this meeting, he praised Professor Yunus's leadership and the July-August mass uprising.

Expressing his interest in supporting Bangladesh, former President Tadic said, "I love this country. Let me know if I can help you in any way."

During the meeting, the two leaders discussed geopolitical issues, challenges of the interim government and the history of Serbia.

Former Serbian President Boris Tadic has arrived in Dhaka to attend the Bay of Bengal Conference organized by the Center for Governance Studies. 

The government has decided to form a 'Women's Affairs Reform Commission' headed by Shirin Parveen Haque, a founding member of the women's party and human rights activist.

The information was given by the press wing of the chief adviser on Monday (November 18). The commission has been formed with the aim of making necessary reforms in the field of women's participation and empowerment at all levels.

The other members of the commission are Mahin Sultan, senior fellow of BRAC Institute of Governance and Development, Sara Hossain, executive director of Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust, Fauzia Karim Firoz, president of Bangladesh National Women Lawyers Association, Kalpana Akhter, president of Bangladesh Garments and Industrial Workers Federation, Halida Hanum Akhter, women's health expert, Sumaiya Islam, executive director of Bangladesh Nari Sramik Kendra, Nirupa Dewan, former member of the National Human Rights Commission, Ferdousi Sultana, former senior social development adviser of the Asian Development Bank, and student representative Nishita Zaman Niha.

The commission's working procedure states that the commission will start its work immediately and will hand over the prepared report to the chief adviser of the interim government within the next 90 days after considering all the relevant opinions.

Workers of a factory that has been closed indefinitely in the Panishail area of Kashimpur in Gazipur metropolis have started a protest. During this, there was a chase and counter-chase between the aggrieved workers and the locals. At one point, the agitated workers set fire to a factory named Amazon Knitwear next to Jirani Bazar. During this, the area turned into a battlefield in a three-way clash.

According to multiple local sources, workers have been protesting in the Chakraborty area of the metropolis by blocking roads at the Beximco Industrial Park Limited factory in the Panishail area of Kashimpur for three days, demanding wages. In this incident, the authorities declared a layout in at least 20 factories in the vicinity. Among them, the authorities declared the Doreen Fashion Limited factory in the Panishail area of the city closed indefinitely on November 1. However, although the factory was opened yesterday, Sunday, the authorities declared a holiday again in the afternoon.

On Monday (November 18) morning, workers of Doreen Fashion Limited factory came to work and saw a notice declaring the factory closed indefinitely. Seeing the notice, the workers started protesting, demanding that the factory be reopened. At one stage, they created a blockade by taking up positions in the Jirani area of Chandra-Nabinagar road. At the same time, workers of the Beximco factory were also blocking and protesting at a separate place on the same road. At one stage of the movement, around 11:30 am, an argument between workers of Doreen Fashion and the Beximco factory led to a chase and clash. At least 5 people were injured in the clash.

The workers entered the Panishail and Kaltasuti areas and beat up the people of the area. The locals got angry and chased the workers. For some time, a three-way chase and counter-chase took place. At that time, some workers of Doreen Fashion and Beximco set fire to a factory named Amazon Knitwear in the East Kaltasuti area.

Upon receiving the news, members of the industrial police, police station and army and fire service rushed to the spot and controlled the situation.

Gazipur Fire Service Deputy Director Abdullah Al Arefin said that two fire service units were sent from Kashimpur after receiving the news of the fire. The fire is being extinguished with the help of the army.

Gazipur Industrial Police Superintendent Sarwar Alam said that there was a chase and counter-chase between workers of the Beximco factory and workers of the Dorin Fashion Limited factory. At one stage, a three-way clash broke out between the workers and the locals. Later, law enforcement agencies brought the situation under control. 

Students of Government Titumir College have left the railway and road routes in the capital's Mohakhali area after 5 hours of blockade.

The students started a protest by blocking the railway and road in the Mohakhali area around 11 am on Monday (November 18) demanding a university. This stopped traffic from both sides.

On the ground, it can be seen that the students' blockade has created a long traffic jam in the area. This has also affected the roads in the surrounding areas. Passengers and drivers have suffered due to this. Many are forced to walk to their destinations.

Meanwhile, the Noakhali-bound Upakul Express train was attacked during the students' protest. Several windows of the train were broken and several passengers, including children, were injured.

In this regard, Railway Dhaka Divisional Police Superintendent Anwar Hossain told Barta24.com that several people were injured in the attack on the Upakul Express train. The exact number cannot be said at the moment.

Several pictures of the attack have been spread on social media. It was seen that a man and a woman were directly injured by the stones thrown by the protesters. In addition, a child was also seen in a bloody state.

The control room informed that two intercity trains are stuck on the line in the Mohakhali area due to the students' protest. Among them, the Agnibeena Express bound for Tarakandi in Jamalpur and the Banalata Express bound for Dhaka that left from Chapainawabganj.
