A.F. Hasan Arif, the interim government's adviser to the Ministry of Land, Civil Aviation and Tourism, has passed away. Adviser A.F. Hasan Arif's son Muaz Arif confirmed the information.

He breathed his last at 3 pm on Friday (December 20).

Muaz Arif told the media that his father, Adviser Hasan Arif, suddenly fell to the floor. After that, he was taken to the capital's Lab Aid Hospital, where the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Hasan Arif was a lawyer in his professional life. He served as the former Attorney General of Bangladesh and adviser to the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, the Ministry of Land and Religious Affairs in the caretaker government led by Fakhruddin Ahmed.

Sadeq Ahmed, a tourist visiting from Dhaka's Banglamotor, said, "I came on a family tour with my family on a weekend. Since the children's schools are closed, everyone was able to find time. We had a lot of fun together on the beach. It feels great."

Sayeed Sami, a tourist from Rajshahi, said, "Cox's Bazar never gets old. Whenever I get a holiday, I rush to the beach. However, there are more tourists in December. I can't even walk. Everywhere is crowded. That also feels good."

Meanwhile, lifeguards, tourist police, beach workers and security personnel who work to protect tourists bathing in the sea are struggling to cope with the additional pressure from tourists. However, they are working hard to avoid unpleasant incidents.

Mohammad Osman, senior lifeguard at Sea Safe Lifeguard, said that there is additional pressure from tourists every year in December and always on weekends. We have to struggle to cope with the pressure. This December, additional tourists have come to Cox's Bazar. Tourists are getting off everywhere. To avoid accidents, one should bathe between the red and yellow flags and follow the instructions of the lifeguards.

Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Abul Kalam, media spokesperson of the Cox's Bazar Region Tourist Police, said that our security activities have been strengthened on the occasion of the travel season. There will be no security lapse anywhere. The Cox's Bazar Tourist Police is working day and night to ensure that the esteemed tourists can enjoy their trip and leave with joy. The Tourist Police is also advising tourists to follow some of the restrictions of the Ministry of Environment while moving around the sea beach area.

Chief Adviser to the interim government Dr. Muhammad Yunus said that in the post-independence period, besides maintaining the country's geographical integrity and sovereignty, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) is serving as a 'vigilant border guard' to protect the border, prevent smuggling, and prevent drug and women and child trafficking.

He said these things in a message on the occasion of 'Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Day' on Friday (December 20).

Expressing heartfelt greetings and congratulations to all the members of the force, Dr. Muhammad Yunus said, Border Guard Bangladesh is a traditional institution. The role of this force in our great liberation war is unforgettable. Two of the force's most distinguished freedom fighters, Lance Naik Nur Mohammad Sheikh and Lance Naik Munshi Abdur Rouf, have been awarded the title of freedom fighter for their outstanding bravery in the Liberation War. 817 fearless members of this force have glorified the history of BGB by sacrificing their lives in the great Liberation War.

He said that the role of BGB in controlling the law and order situation in the border areas and the entire country after the mass uprising of students, workers and the public in July-August and in dealing with the terrible flood situation in the south-eastern part of the country has been widely appreciated.

The Chief Adviser said that the members of BGB will perform their duties with utmost patriotism, devotion, sincerity and professionalism to uphold the independence and sovereignty of the country - this is everyone's expectation.

Finally, Dr. Yunus wished Border Guard Bangladesh overall success and further prosperity.

Hasnat Abdullah, the convener of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, has clearly stated in response to the alleged corruption allegations brought against him that if there is any evidence of corruption against him, it should be published.

He made a post on the social media Facebook at 12 midnight on Thursday (December 19).

He said that some people are making allegations against me on social media about recruitment, posting, transfer and various financial corruptions. But the sad thing is that they have not been able to present a single piece of evidence in support of these claims.

He also said, I want to make it clear that if any corruption allegations brought against me can be presented with evidence of even 1 taka, be it documents, videos, audio, or a person himself proves it by giving testimony, then I request you to fearlessly publish it on social media. Publicize it in the newspapers and file a case against me.

Hasnat made this matter more clearly by saying, "I am declaring an open challenge. If any allegation is proven based on evidence, even if it is a corruption of 1 taka, then I am ready to accept the maximum responsibility."
