BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, unfortunately, some people in our country are trying to create a rift in this unity. I know that this attempt will not succeed. I believe that we will definitely be able to reach our goal together and united.
He said this while speaking as the chief guest at the 1st National Council of Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) at Suhrawardy Udyan on Saturday (January 11) morning.
He said, after 5 months, many are asking what our achievements are? The achievements are that today we are standing here and can speak without hesitation and fear. I consider this a big victory for us. AB Party has a big role here.
Stating that we have been saved from the hands of a terrible monster, the BNP Secretary General said, we are dreaming of building a new Bangladesh again, we are talking about it. What is needed now is that despite all the provocations, we should remain steadfast in our decision, want to return to a democratic system, want to eliminate discrimination, want to see a new Bangladesh by joining hands with the youth of Bangladesh, shoulder to shoulder. We have no differences here.
If we want to realize the dream we have of rebuilding Bangladesh, we need to be a little patient. We need to always keep in mind that we do not destroy that potential by being stubborn, taking wrong decisions, or taking wrong steps, he said.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, yes, the country's economic situation is not very good, it is politically fragile, we want to fight it together. We want to solve these problems together, all of us. If we can remove that monster, the fascist, by coming together, then why can't we build a state with new possibilities.
Mentioning that BNP has already talked about reforms, he said, we have already talked about reforms, and I repeat, we want reforms. There are some people who try to explain that we want elections before reforms or that we are restless for elections. This is not the case. What we are saying is, why do we want elections quickly? We want them quickly because after the elections, our strength will increase. There will be a government, there will be a parliament. The crises that have arisen will disappear.
The BNP Secretary General said, we have also said that after the elections, we want to form a united national government. We want to solve the political problems together. Those in other parties will definitely think about it, think about it. They will give their opinion.
Stating that they are supporting and will continue to support the current government, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, we are not saying a caretaker government; we are saying an interim government. We have supported them. We are supporting them. It is possible for them, we will find a way on which we can all move forward.
