The government has issued a notification appointing 267 of the 43rd BCS to the administration cadre. They have been posted in various departments as Assistant Commissioners.

This notification was published on the website of the Ministry of Public Administration on Friday (January 10).

The notification signed by Deputy Secretary Md. Shahidul Islam said that based on the results of the 43rd BCS examination, in view of the recommendation of the letter dated January 25 of the Bangladesh Public Service Commission, 267 officers have been appointed as Assistant Commissioners in the BCS (Administration) cadre as per the notification dated December 30, 2024 of the New Recruitment Branch of the Ministry of Public Administration.

The service of these appointed Assistant Commissioners has been assigned under the Divisional Commissioner of the department mentioned next to their names for posting to appropriate posts as trainee Assistant Commissioners.

In addition, the notification has directed these officers appointed to join the Divisional Commissioner of the department mentioned next to their names by January 15 and has also given them the powers of Executive Magistrate.

Dhaka: The Appellate Division has issued a full verdict quashing the proceedings of five labor law cases against the interim government's chief adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus and stating that there is no legal weakness in the High Court's verdict, stating that the verdict will be upheld.

The recently published order of the Appellate Division states that there is no legal weakness in the High Court's verdict and order. Therefore, the need for legal intervention in the verdict was not found. As a result, the state's leave to appeals (applications seeking permission to appeal) were dismissed.

On July 3, 2019, three former employees of his company Grameen Communications, which he founded, filed a case against Dr. Muhammad Yunus and three others in the Third Labor Court of Dhaka. They are Abdus Salam, Shah Alam and Emranul Haque. The same year, Hossain Ahmed and Abdur Gafur also filed cases.

Dr. Muhammad Yunus had appealed to the High Court in 2020. At that time, the High Court issued a rule to quash the case. After a separate hearing, the High Court ruled on October 24 that the case was quashed.

The state then applied for leave to appeal (leave to appeal) against this verdict. On December 8, a three-judge bench headed by Justice Ashfaqul Islam dismissed the state's leave to appeal against the High Court verdict.

The Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, Shafiqul Alam, said that the Awami League was justified in making anyone an anti-liberation force and killing them. During their time, there was a major looting in Bangladesh in world history.

He spoke at a discussion titled "The Role of the Media in the July Revolution and Future Expectations" at Jagannath University (JnU) on Saturday (January 11) afternoon.

The Press Secretary said, "Its job was to provide work to big companies. At that time, money launderers abroad are now spreading propaganda with that money. They want to establish that a fundamentalist force has emerged here now, there was no mass uprising. The defeated force wants to turn you into militants again. Work is underway to better understand who played what role in July-August.

Shafiqul Alam said that journalists must work with complete independence. Misdeeds like the Awami regime cannot be committed.

Speakers at the event said that we have started to capture the spirit of July-August. The main lesson of July was the confluence of many rivers, from public to private universities, and from there, the entire community.

Dhaka: Md. Towhid Hossain, Foreign Affairs Adviser, said that processions, slogans and egg-throwing incidents in favor of BNP, Awami League and other political parties abroad are having a negative impact on Bangladesh’s branding.

He said this at a program titled ‘Branding Bangladesh’ at a hotel in the capital on Saturday (January 11).

He said that no other country in the world has as many political party branches as Bangladeshi branches abroad. The hostile attitude towards each other on foreign soil is tarnishing the image of our country. The media must cooperate in these matters.

Expressing optimism those investors will come to Bangladesh only when the political unrest ends, the Foreign Affairs Adviser said that there is uncertainty about the political situation.

He also said that a roadmap will come out soon. The government is working to transfer power to the elected government as soon as possible.

Stating that the Indian media has been carrying out a massive negative campaign against Bangladesh abroad in the last four months, he added that they are spreading information that makes it seem like there is a war situation on the border. People of the Hindu community are being brutalized in Bangladesh. He believes that the cooperation of the media is necessary to stop the propaganda of Indians. He said that many complaints about expatriates not getting the necessary assistance in embassies abroad are true. But not all. Apart from this, the government will take maximum action if expatriates are harassed at airports.
