BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged the interim government's Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus to build national unity by discussing with political parties.
He told reporters after a meeting with the Chief Adviser at the state guest house Jamuna on Wednesday (November 27) evening.
Mirza Fakhrul said that no situation should be created in the country that would create division. We have said that national unity is the most needed right now.
He said that there are many challenges ahead of us. To face these, we have asked us to build national unity, especially to resist those who pose a threat to the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh or those who want to destroy stability.
Mirza Fakhrul said that the meeting emphasized on giving a roadmap for the elections. He said that we have talked about building national unity by discussing with all political parties. I have asked you to complete the reforms that are needed for the elections and give a roadmap as soon as possible.
The party's Secretary General said that measures have also been requested to withdraw the cases filed against BNP leaders across the country.
After the meeting, the Chief Adviser's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said that the BNP has spoken about national unity. The Chief Adviser also said that he wants national unity. He gave a message of national unity among students, the public, Hindus and Muslims.
He also said that the issue of Chattogram was discussed in the meeting. The Chief Advisor asked everyone to remain calm.
