Britain's King Charles III may visit Bangladesh
Britain's King Charles III and Queen Camilla may visit India, Pakistan and Bangladesh, the country's media outlet Daily Mirror reported.
A report in the Daily Mirror on Friday (November 22) said that Britain's King Charles III and his wife Queen Consort Camilla are planning to visit the Indian subcontinent in the near future. King Charles III is slowly recovering from cancer, so he may embark on this trip soon.
The Daily Mirror did not give any specific information about when the British king and queen's visit may begin.
The Daily Mirror quoted a royal family source as saying, "It is very encouraging to plan such a trip. The king and queen's visit to South Asia is not only important for Britain politically and culturally. It will also strengthen our country's strategic position on the global stage.'
The Daily Mirror said that British Foreign Office officials have been given the green light to discuss potential host countries for the royal visit. Drafts are being prepared for tours to Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed his interest in welcoming the king and queen after canceling his visit to India last year.
Buckingham Palace announced the king's cancer diagnosis in February. However, doctors said that the king's treatment is progressing well. He will be able to travel next year.
