Former President Professor Dr. AQM Badruddoja Chowdhury breathed his last on Friday night. The details of his funeral and burial have been given by his relatives.

According to information, his first Janaza will be held at Uttara Mahila Medical College Hospital premises on Saturday (October 5) at 8 am.

The second Janaza after Johar will be held at Baitul Atiq Jame Masjid premises located on Road No. 8, Baridhara Diplomatic Area. After the funeral, his body will be preserved in Dhaka.

The body of the former president will be taken to his own village Srinagar in  Munshiganj on Sunday (October 6). He will be buried in the family graveyard after the third janaza at Srinagar Stadium at 10 am and the fourth at Majidpur Dayahata, after Johar village.

He died at Uttara Mohila Medical College Hospital around 3:30 pm on Friday (October 5) while undergoing treatment.

A policeman named Kazi Atiqur Rahman (36) was killed in a collision between a pickup and a motorcycle in Sylhet. He was working as Sub-Inspector (SI) of Industrial Police Sylhet Zone.

The incident took place in Salutikar area of Sylhet-Companiganj road on Friday (October 4) evening.

According to police sources, he went to Gowainghat police station on a motorcycle for office work. On his way, his motorcycle collided with a speeding pickup in Salutikar area. Kazi Atiqur Rahman died on the spot. Another policeman who was with him was injured.

Confirming the death, Sylhet Metropolitan Police Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Mohammad Shahriar Alam said that SI Kazi Atiqur Rahman, who was working in the Industrial Police, died in a collision between a pickup and a motorcycle. The body was recovered and sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for autopsy. The pickup driver fled immediately after the incident. But the pickup has been impounded.

The fire of 'MT Banglar Saurav', which caught fire after a loud explosion, has been brought under control. But 4 sailors of the ship are not found.

The Coast Guard said the ship's fire was brought under control at 2:35 AM on Friday (October 4).

Coast Guard East Zone Media Officer Lieut. Shakib Mehbub said that at 2:35 AM, Coast Guard Tug Ship BCGT was able to bring the fire of MT Banglar Sourav under control. Meanwhile, the Coast Guard rescued 46 crew alive out of a total of 50 crew on board. The remaining 4 are missing. All efforts are underway to rescue them.

Earlier, 'MT Banglar Saurav' started burning at a quarter past midnight on Friday. Coast Guard Tug Ship BCGT Pramatta, Metal Shark divided into 3 and 4 teams started working to control and rescue the fire of BSC A Oil Tanker at outer anchorage.

Both the ships that suffered accidents within a few days belonged to Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC).

Earlier on Monday, three people died in a fire incident after an explosion on the MT Banglar Jyoti vessel.

In various videos spread on Facebook, it was seen that the fire took a terrible form. Many are comparing it to the way the Banglar Jyoti caught fire.

A young man named Lutfar Hossain gave live from near the scene around 1 AM. He himself was working on another ship. Later, Lutfar told Barta24.com that anchored off Parki beach was the smell of Bengal. At half past one in the morning, there was a loud noise in the ship. Later I saw the fire burning.

According to multiple sources of Bangladesh Merchant Mariners Association, the lifespan of a ship is 20 to 25 years. After that it cannot travel on international routes. But two tankers named MT Bangla's Jyoti and MT Bangla's Sourav were built in 1987 in Denmark. The two tankers collect crude oil from large tankers waiting at the outer anchorage of Chattogram Port and bring it to various depots in Patenga.

Former President Professor Dr. AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury is no more (Inna Lillahi wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun).

He died at Uttara Mahila Medical College Hospital at around 3:30 AM on Friday (October 5).

He was 94 years old at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, one son and two daughters and numerous relatives and well-wishers.

Earlier, his son Mahi B Chowdhury informed that he was put on life support at night.

Badruddoza Chowdhury was admitted to Uttara Mahila Medical College Hospital last Wednesday (October 2).

Badruddoza Chowdhury's daughter Dr. Shayla Chowdhury said that her father already had ischemic heart disease. He was diagnosed with a lung infection on Wednesday. In that condition, he was admitted to Uttara Mahila Medical College Hospital. There he was attended by the hospital's head of cardiologist Aparna Rahman, medicine specialist Maruf Bin Habib and medicine specialist Dr. Shayla Chowdhury.

Renowned doctor and veteran politician Badruddoza Chowdhury was born on October 11, 1930 in maternal grand father’s house (famous 'Munsef Bari') in Cumilla city. His father Advocate Kofil Uddin Chowdhury was Vice-President of Krishak Praja Party, General Secretary of United Front and a member of the then East Pakistan Provincial Cabinet. The founder of BNP, the Secretary General was elected President on November 14, 2001. Later on June 21, 2002, he resigned from the post of President.
