Attorney General wants to reform Article 70 of the Constitution

Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman commented that it is necessary to reform Article 70 of the Constitution.

He said this while talking to reporters at the Attorney General's office on Thursday (September 12).

He said, the Interim government led by Dr. Muhammad Yunus is doing everything according to the constitution so far. He also commented that the 6 Commissions that have been formed for the reform of the government have reflected the aspirations of the people.

Attorney General Md. Asaduzzaman said, I personally want Article 70 of the Constitution to be reformed. If Article 70 is reformed, the fascist regime will not be able to sit on it.

It should be noted that Article 70 of the Constitution states that if a person is nominated as a candidate of a political party and elected as a Member of Parliament, if (a) he resigns from that party, or (b) votes against that party in Parliament, his seat shall be vacant, but he shall not be disqualified from being a Member of Parliament in any subsequent election on that account.
