96 percent area of Feni has been affected by the flood
The district administration has released the account of the damage in Feni due to the flood. According to the government, 882 square kilometers out of 928 square kilometers of the district have been damaged. That is, about 96 percent of the district has been affected by recent floods. Among these, the highest losses have been assessed in the crops, fisheries and livestock sectors. The total damage in these sectors has been estimated at Tk.1020 crore 72 lakh 14 thousand 39 taka. A minimum of Tk. 4 lakh has been damaged in mobile phone towers.
According to the information given by the district administration, the estimated loss in various sectors including public health, infrastructure, education, health, communication, electricity in the district is Tk. 2859 crore 58 lakh 91 thousand 313.
According to the published report, 8 thousand 95 Kutchcha houses, 250 semi-pucca houses completely collapsed and the damage was Tk. 163 crore 11 lakh 70 thousand. The amount of partial damage to 53 thousand 433 Kutchcha houses and 2 thousand 632 semi-pucca houses is Tk. 370 crore 78 lakh. Total damage to 64 thousand 415 houses is Tk. 533 crore 89 lakh 70 thousand.
The loss of nursery and forestry is Tk. 1 crore 38 lakh 65 thousand 648. Tk. 39 crore 2 lakh 73 thousand 790 has been damaged in school, madrasa and college level educational institutions. The damage shown in deep, shallow and manual tube wells is Tk.149 crore 57 lakh 85 thousand.
54 mosques in the district have been completely damaged, in which the total damage has been estimated at Tk. 6 crore 91 lakh 60 thousand. Besides, Tk. 45 lakh 20 thousand have been damaged in 144 temples.
707 km of electricity transmission lines of the electricity department were partially damaged in the flood to the tune of Tk. 3 crore 97 lakh 15 thousand 598. Tk. 928 crores 99 lakhs 32 thousand 938 taka has been damaged in roads, bridges, culverts, rivers and dams.
Damage of Tk. 109 crore 97 lakh has been assessed to Tk. 1 lakh 20 thousand 490 sanitary sewerage system due to flood. Tk. 18 thousand 247 ponds, 890 reservoirs have been damaged to the tune of Tk. 120 crore 29 lakh 45 thousand. Apart from this, Tk. 6 crore 10 lakh 9 thousand 200 damages have been assessed in 10 hospitals, 3 clinics and 79 community clinics.
Feni Deputy Commissioner Mushammat Shahina Akhtar said that rehabilitation activities are now being prioritized after the disaster. Officials of concerned organizations or departments engaged in the field have started cluster-based work. She said that priority will be given to issues of public importance including construction of houses, cash assistance and agriculture.
