Some within the government may try to form a political party, it seems to be a mistake, said Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, adviser to the BNP chairperson and president of the Supreme Court Bar Association.

He said this in his speech as the chief guest at the Bangladesh Youth Parliament-2024 organized at the Supreme Court building on Saturday (November 9) afternoon.

He said, the people are supporting this government, we are also supporting them. But some will try to form a political party again within the government, it seems to be a mistake. If you are thinking of forming a political party, then you will no longer be neutral. The interim government will no longer exist and it will become a party government. Sheikh Hasina's situation will happen again. We do not expect this.

Mahbub Uddin Khokon said, we want reforms, reforms quickly. Return the power of the people to the people. Return the power to the people through fair, beautiful elections. Then as long as Bangladesh exists, the nation will remember Dr. Yunus and his advisory council.

Democracy is the means of transferring power peacefully. We have gone back to the past in the last 16 years. Now people are dreaming again, he added.

Stating that people expect a lot from this government, this adviser to the BNP Chairperson said, "Some people have thoughts about whether they can continue to conspire, but this is not right. This government has taken oath according to the constitution. Before that, it was approved by the Supreme Court after seeking its opinion.

He said, everyone wants to do politics, you are a businessman, you do business. You will commit corruption, you will do politics, who asked you to do politics? I hope this government will hand over power through elections very soon.

Jonayed Saki, the chief coordinator of the Gano Sanghati Andolon said, "A new political settlement will be needed, the youth have brought that political direction through the coup. The challenge before the political parties of Bangladesh is whether we can contain the limits of the hopes of the youth?"
