Yaba has been the most dangerous drug in Bangladesh for several years. It has spread to different levels of society, especially among the youth, under the name 'Baba'. The main supply of Yaba across the country comes mainly from Teknaf, the southernmost area of Bangladesh bordering Myanmar. And the name most often heard in connection with Yaba is Abdur Rahman Bodi, MP from Cox's Bazar-4 constituency, who served as an MP for two terms in 2008 and 2014.

Although Abdur Rahman Bodi's name has been on the top of the list of drug dealers in the government, including the Ministry of Home Affairs, several times, the Narcotics Control Department (DNC) could not take a case against Bodi during the Awami League government.

This information was given by the agency's Additional Director General Muhammad Yusuf in response to questions from journalists at a press conference organized at the Narcotics Control Department in Segunbagicha in the capital on Thursday (January 9) afternoon regarding the recovery of ice.

He said, "Drug consumption is just as addictive as drug dealing. When you came in the name of drug king Badi, we could not take any case during the Awami League period. We are working in the current changed situation. Now our hands and feet are not tied. We have investigated all his (Badi's) activities. A committee of ours has investigated and worked. They investigated and detailed information about Badi and his relatives has been revealed."

He also said, "We have not been able to take action yet. This requires time. We have installed sources. Many people question the issue of catching godfathers. But the godfather is far behind. Our shoes wear out to reach him. Therefore, the easy task is to file a money laundering case. Information about Badi's entire family has come. This time we will work to take action against them. You will see the result soon."

In response to a question, he said, "Many people still hold sway over drugs. We are working on everyone's issues. Along with our own detectives, cooperation from other organizations is being taken."
