A group wants to hijack the movement, BNP standing committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has commented.
He said, "Go to the movement, new statements are being heard. They want to hijack the movement. Think a little before giving a statement. We don't want to question this movement. This movement is the movement of 18 crore people in Bangladesh."
He said these things as the chief guest at the pre-rally rally of the Chattogram Metropolitan Chhatra Dal on the occasion of the 46th founding anniversary of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal next to Biplob Udyan at Gate No. 2 in the city's Sholashar on Wednesday (January 1) afternoon.
After the rally, a procession led by Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury started from Gate No. 2, passed through GEC intersection and ended at WASA intersection.
Presided over by Chattagram Metropolitan Chhatra Dal convener Saiful Alam and moderated by member secretary Shariful Islam Tuhin, the main speaker at the rally was Mahbuber Rahman Shamim, organizing secretary of the BNP central committee.
Special guests included Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, joint organizing secretary of the BNP central committee, Alhaj Ershad Ullah, convener of the Metropolitan BNP, and member secretary Nazimur Rahman.
Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury said, BNP did not do this movement alone. All the people together, we have expelled the fascists through a movement. No one should try to take ownership of the movement. If we have to calculate ownership, you will be ashamed of the account we (BNP) give.
Warning that if you argue about ownership, you will have to go the way of Sheikh Hasina, he said, ownership of the movement means that the people will elect whoever they want with their votes. If anyone plays around with this, they will have to go the way of Sheikh Hasina again. You are trying to stay in power by creating new narratives without getting votes, it will not work here. We have to go to the polls. We have to hold elections as soon as possible.
Stating that Chhatra Dal was on the streets after 16 years of torture, he said, Chhatra Dal gave up its life on the streets, became crippled, got sued, ran away, lost its business and job and said goodbye to Sheikh Hasina. This Chhatra Dal, who expelled Ershad, has been a victim of disappearance and murder for 16 years, but no one has returned home.
He said, we do not want a division to be created in the country with the movement. We want unity to be created in the country with the movement. And through the movement, the people of the country have united and expelled the dictator, the fascist from the country for life, so that the fascist and her ghost cannot return.
Amir Khasru said, the responsibility of the interim government is to peacefully hand over power to the elected parliamentary government. There is no other responsibility beyond this. And the talk of reforms that are being talked about will be in the next parliament. That is, the elected parliament members will make as many reforms as are necessary.
In his speech as the main speaker, Mahbuber Rahman Shamim said that the autocratic Ershad government fell in 1990 due to the important role of Chhatra Dal. And the Awami League fell on August 5 due to the strong role of Chhatra Dal. The nationalist Chhatra Dal should hold procession meetings at Chattogram University and all colleges in Chattogram. Students should talk about their demands. Today, after Sheikh Hasina fled, the friends of Awami League are conspiring to destabilize the country. They are trying to thwart the elections. So we want to say that democracy has not been fully restored yet. Chhatra Dal should remain on the streets until democracy is restored. The people of the country are eager to vote. Arrange for elections quickly, otherwise the student community will take to the streets again. In his speech as the special guest, Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin said that the history of the movement should not be forgotten. The movement started over quotas in government jobs, then students were attacked. And then all parties including Chhatra Dal announced a movement to topple the government. The leadership of BNP, Chhatra Dal, students and 18 crore people has made the mass uprising on August 5 successful. All patriotic students of madrasas, schools and colleges have returned home and educational institutions after finishing the movement. Chhatra Dal leaders and activists have also done the same. But those who are talking about the anti-discrimination movement and dreaming of forming a party and coming to power by using state power, this will not happen at this time. Tarique Rahman will be elected Prime Minister by the direct vote of the people of the country.
In his speech as a special guest, Ershad Ullah said, Chhatra Dal is one of the strengths and morale of BNP. I pray for the forgiveness of the souls of the student leaders who were killed in the last July movement, including Chhatra Dal. The current government has banned Chhatra League due to its misdeeds during the fascist regime. We want Chhatra Dal to play an important role in the country's fair politics and economy. Chhatra Dal committees must be strengthened in various colleges and universities. As a guardian organization, we will provide all kinds of advice and cooperation on behalf of BNP.
In his speech as a special guest, Nazimur Rahman said, "The path that fascist Hasina has led student politics for the past 16 years was never student politics. It was a terrorist political party. That is why the current government has banned Chhatra League. They have no right to do politics in Bangladesh. I want to tell the Chhatra Dal leaders that we should not do any such activity that we may have to flee like Sheikh Hasina. We have been protesting against fascism for the past fifteen years. Now I hear that someone else is trying to enjoy the benefits of the movement alone. Our struggle to establish democratic rights to be continued.
