Chief Adviser accords reception to SAFF-winning women's football team
Dhaka: Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus organized a reception for the SAFF-winning women's football team.
The reception was held at the State Guest House Jamuna on Saturday (November 2) at 11 am. Earlier, the Bangladesh women's football team, which won the SAFF championship, entered the Jamuna at 10:30 am.
23 footballers, manager Mahmuda Ananya and Coach Peter Butler were scheduled to meet the Chief Adviser. The remaining members of the SAFF-winning Bangladesh contingent in Nepal - the goalkeeper coach, assistant coach, physio and media officer - could not go to Jamuna. In addition, no BFF official went to Jamuna.
Last Wednesday, Bangladesh won the SAFF for the second time in a row. They defeated host Nepal in the final. They won 2-1 with goals from Monika Chakma and Rituparna Chakma at the Dashrath Rangasala in Kathmandu. The Bangladesh women's football team returned home on Thursday. Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan was waiting at the BFF building from 5:30 pm to welcome the winning women footballers that day. The waiting ended at 7 pm. The winning women footballers arrived at the BFF building three hours after departing from the airport at 4 pm in an open-top bus.
The winning Bangladesh team has already received a prize of Tk 1 crore from the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Cricket Board has also announced a prize of Tk. 20 lakh for Sabina Khatun's team.
