Bangladesh retains the title of Asia Cup: India beaten
Bangladesh retained the U-19 Asia Cup title. In the final on Sunday (December 8), they defeated the powerful India by 59 runs. India is the eight-time champion of this tournament!
Bangladesh came out to bat in this final in Dubai after losing the toss. Bangladesh's innings ended at 198 runs in 49.1 overs. There is no way to call it a very good or a big score. But India, as soon as they set out to chase this run, was crushed by Bangladesh's pace bowling storm. India's innings ended at 139 runs. Bangladesh won the final by a huge margin of 59 runs.
This calculation of wins and losses shows that the final match was completely one-sided. India's batters could not stand up to Bangladesh's planned and disciplined bowling attack.
Bangladesh's innings did not start well. Opener Kalam Siddiqui was bowled for just 1 run off 16 balls. Bangladesh captain Azizul Hakim, who was in great form throughout the tournament, also failed to go far in the final. He returned for 16 runs off 28 balls. In the middle order, two batters Mohammad Shihab James and Rizan Hossain took Bangladesh's innings forward. They added 62 runs for the fourth wicket. This pair gave Bangladesh the courage to take the lead. However, both were set out. James played an effective innings of 40 runs off 67 balls with 1 six and 3 boundaries. Rizan Hossain deserved his half-century with the way he was playing. But he too returned for 47 runs off 65 balls. Rizan was dismissed by spinner Hardik Raj.
Farid Hasan and Maruf Mridha showed some determination with the bat in the ninth wicket partnership, taking Bangladesh's score to 198 runs.
The Bangladesh team will have to attack India's batting from the beginning to win by defending this run. The bowlers were very successful in that effort. The two opening pacers Al Fahad and Maruf Mridha were successful in their opening spells. India lost 2 wickets for 39 runs in the power play. Rizan Hossain, who was very successful with the bat, showed success as soon as he came to bowl. He bowled Siddharth, who was becoming dangerous, with the third ball of his over.
Another pacer, Iqbal Hossain Emon, was the team's best performer with the ball in the final, like in the rest of the tournament. Iqbal basically gave Bangladesh the match by taking two wickets in two balls.
India lost 7 wickets before the score reached 100 runs. Then it was the 27th over of their innings. India was waiting for something dramatic to recover from such a situation and win the match.
But none of the rest of the team could do anything amazing with the bat. Bangladesh won in a dominating manner.
