Earlier, Abu Hanif, a higher council member and media coordinator of Gana Adhikar Parishad, filed a defamation case against her in the Dhaka court for making adverse comments about Shaheed Abu Sayed and other martyrs.

It is said in the application of the case that on October 5, the accused Tapashi Tabassum Urmi is not only Abu Sayed, but she also wrote insulting statements in the Facebook against the government established through the student-mass movement and the head of the government, the Nobel laureate Chief Advisor Dr. Muhammad Yunus.

It is further said that the comments, on the basis of reference to the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, denigrate a constitutionally constituted head of government and create public fear by threatening to overthrow the government.
