Asia Cup women’s cricket: Sri Lanka beat Pakistan in the second semi-final

Sri Lanka has reached the final of the Women’s Asia Cup. The team beat Pakistan by 3 wickets in the second semi-final at Dambulla today.

The Lankans won the toss and sent Pakistan to bat. The opening pair of Gul Feroza and Muniba Ali scored 61 runs. Gul scored 24 while 37 runs came from Muniba's bat.

Sidrah Amin also departed with 10 runs off 13 balls. In the end Nida Dar and Fatima Sana both made 23 off 17 balls, Alia Riaz scored 16 runs off 15 balls. The capital of the team stands at 140 for 4 wickets.

In response, Sadia Iqbal pushed Sri Lanka in the beginning. Vishmi sent back Gunaratna in the first over. Omaima Sohail trapped Harshita Samarawickrama LBW in the fourth over. After that, Chamari Atapattu built the wall. She added 49 runs with Kavisha Dilhari for the third wicket.

Sadia, who had pushed Sri Lanka at the start, once again took the responsibility of bringing Pakistan back into the match. She took 2 wickets in 3 balls. At first she returned Kavisha, then Nilakshi.

There was no pressure on the Lankans as Chamari was on the other side of Atapattu. But the pressure came when she was sent back by Sadia Iqbal after she scored 63 runs off 48 balls. In the next over, Hasini Perera returned with a run out.

Anushka Sanjeevani and Sugandha Kumari's 15-run partnership then took Lanka out of danger. Sugandha returned at the end. But Sri Lanka had already smelt victory. In the end, the team won by 3 wickets. Thus Sri Lanka moved to the final to meet strong India.

Sri Lanka will play the final of the Women’s Asia Cup next Sunday. In front of them will be India, the most successful team in the competition.
